NEW INFO
SCIENCE FAIR JUDGES NEEDED
Hello St. Paul Families!,
I am in search of volunteers with a strong science background or are involved in a science or engineering career familiar with the steps and process of the scientific method.
Monday, February 5th from 8:00 to 10:30 is the 7th grade science fair. Students have worked for two and half months researching, setting up, and experimenting on a topic of their choice. I am seeking adult volunteers that would be willing to judge several seventh graders' overall experiment, presentation, report, and display. This would all be judged using a provided rubric.
One request I have is that if you are the parent, grandparent, or directly connected to any seventh graders you are kindly asked not to volunteer to keep judging as fair as possible.
If you or someone you know is interested please reach out to Mrs. Kari Nydle at kari.nydle@st-paul.pvt.k12.ia.us.
Thank you so much for considering!

RALLY FOR REID HALF-COURT SHOT
January 28 during Catholic Schools Week
Open House from 9:30-10:45 in the school gym. Every student is invited to bring a dollar to
donate to the Rally for Reid Foundation. Every dollar means a chance to make a half-court shot
(the line will be adjusted for younger kids, so everyone can participate).
Everyone goes home a winner. Everyone who donates receives a little treat for trying.
Those that make the shot receive a gift certificate of their choice to Whiteys or Subway.
The 7th graders are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the entire school for two reasons:
1) to raise money for this worthwhile organization and in honor of Reid Gleeson who attended 3
year old and 4 year old preschool at St. Paul the Apostle School; and
2) to learn how to plan activities for others that bring about “Christlike” service projects for others – how can we bring
the love of Jesus to others.
So, come one, come all! Send in your pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars! Every dollar
donated gets you a shot! All money is donated directly to Rally for Reid Foundation to help find
a cure for childhood cancer and to help support families who have a child afflicted with cancer.
*SUNDAY, JANUARY 28 HALF COURT SHOTS, FREE THROWS, and CLOSER SHOTS for little kids

SPELLING BEE
The Spelling Bees will be held on Tuesday, January 30 (during Catholic Schools Week).
4-8th Grade Spelling Bee starting at 8:45 a.m.
K-3rd Grade Spelling Bee starting at 12:30 p.m.
Parents are welcome to attend. Practice sheets were emailed yesterday.
There is also an interactive place to go for spelling bee practice. With the free Word Club app for mobile devices and tablets, your child can have fun while mastering the Words of the Champions. The app is adaptable to different study and quiz styles for both spelling and vocabulary, and added game-play will keep your spelling champ motivated. Download the app today from Google Play or the App Store! Here is the link https://spellingbee.com/word-club
I could also use two adult helpers during the morning and afternoon. If you are able to help out for Home and School hours please let me know! Also, please let me know if you have any questions about the spelling bee. Thank you!
Happy Spelling!!!
