Principal Post

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience and flexibility in dealing with our school day changes due to weather!

Report Cards

Report cards were emailed this afternoon to parents for 2nd quarter. If you have questions about your child’s grade, please contact the teacher. If you notice that standards grades don’t quite match the course grade, again, please reach out to your child’s teacher. We still seem to have some glitching here and there with the PowerSchool report card. Letting us know about problems can help us to get the program working correctly. I apologize for the inconvenience of the new program this year. We are working hard with the Diocese and Grant Wood AEA to get this corrected.

ELC Burst Pipe

We had a pipe burst in three places early this morning in the Early Learning Center in Mrs. Pedersen’s 3YO/TK classroom.

  •  We moved all classes out of that building today due to lack of water.
  • The good news is that as of 3:30 PM today the pipes are fixed, and the water is back on!
  • Mrs. Pedersen’s classroom still needs to be cleaned up and walls patched so our 3YO preschool and TK will be cancelled the rest of the week while we take care of the needed repairs.
  • Small Beginnings, the 4YO preschool and the fine arts classes will all resume in the ELC tomorrow!
  • Thank you, Mr. Boche, for getting this taken care of so quickly today!

Spruce Up the School

Spruce up the School will be on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 7:00AM to 11:00 AM.

  • Earn volunteer hours for this fun event and earn an out of uniform for your students on Friday, January 26.
  • Bring a bucket with cleaning supplies (wipes, rags, sponges, paper towel, PLEASE NO BLEACH).
  • We deep clean classrooms from top to bottom. Cleaning list includes wiping down desks, chairs, shelves, door frames, walls, etc. If you have an old vacuum, please bring it, the school only has a few.
  •  Our custodians may have more advance jobs outside elbow grease;) – changing light bulbs, cleaning ceiling fans, heavy lifting, minor fix it jobs.
  • Please report to the school kitchen to get your assignment when you arrive at school on the 20th. Older siblings are welcome to earn service hours. This is a GREAT opportunity to get involved and meet other parents! Donuts and juice will be served!
  • We have a chair for this event, but if you are interested in being a co-chair, please email Shannon Elliott at stpaulhomeandschool@gmail.com.
  • Please sign up at this link if you plan to attend Spruce Up the School: Spruce Up the School Sign Up
  • Thank you for your service!

Returning Students for the 2024-2025 School Year – Date Change

Due to school cancellations and some needed updates to our registration system, we will begin re-enrollment for current students entering 1st -8th grade on February 1st. This process will be very simple. You will log into your PowerSchool account and update your child’s information. Completing this will generate a notification to the school that you are planning to have your child return for the 2024-2025 school year.

St. Paul the Apostle Feast Day and Celebrate St. Paul’s

  • The Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul - We will be having a special parish Mass on Thursday, January 25, at 5:30 PM to celebrate The Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, our parish patron saint. Dr Jacob Banks, our choir director, would like input from the parish on song selections for the Mass. Please go to the following Google Form to cast your votes. https://forms.gle/rj44GNRe96nhR1cB6
  • Celebrate St. Paul’s - Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 27 for an evening of friends and fun here at St. Paul’s! As we approach the feast day of our patron saint, we thought it would be a great time to throw a party! It’s an open adult social in Denning Hall with pizza, light beer, and a feature cocktail. People are welcome to BYOB if you have something special, you’d like to enjoy. We’ll have an interactive DJ playing music, so bring your dancing shoes and your phone to download the app and play along. Plan to join this celebration of our wonderful community!

ESA Families

ESA funding for 2nd semester is now available. The process to initiate funding is like 1st semester.

School action:

  • o SCCS will review tuition and fees for all current students and adjust the amount to be charged for 2nd semester, if necessary.
  • o In some cases, SCCS may add band, algebra, and/or sport fees, as well as PSAT and/or AP test fees. (These options were not available 1st semester.)

Parent/Guardian action:

  • o  Odyssey will automatically notify you that an invoice is available to review
  • o  Review the invoice at Odyssey. If you have questions, please contact Bobbie Goetsch at (studentaccounts@sccsiowa.com or 563-326-5313 ext. 282)
  • o To maintain ESA eligibility, approve payment through Odyssey https://iowa.withodyssey.com/ soon as possible. Our goal is to have 100% of our families accept 2nd semester tuition and fees by January 10th.
