January 24, 2019- First parent meeting

NTT held its first parent education night. There was a wonderful turn out with the Media Center full of parents and teachers. We discussed Electronic Screen Syndrome and how our youngest students are affected by screen usage. Passive screen use (TV) is far better for their brains than interactive screen use! We discussed video gaming and the addictive nature of Fortnite. We heard from a mom who used a reset outline in "Reset Your Child's Brain" by Victoria Dunckley to reel in the use of video games in her home. Lastly we heard about social media for middle schoolers, and the dark sides of Snapchat and Instagram making them not good choices for middle schoolers.
